41st Annual Tour of Homes Announced

Eight neighborhood gems will be on tour at the 41st Annual Palm Sunday Tour of Homes March 20, 2016 according to the Calcasieu Historic Preservation Society (CHPS).

Palm Sunday, 2015In addition to six private residences, the tour will include the interiors of a place of worship and a renowned collection of bonsai.

The Tour is scheduled for 1 pm to 5 pm on Palm Sunday.

Residences on tour include the Davis House at 902 Kirby St, the Lancaster House at 903 Kirby, the Bill Terry/Reid Tyler House at 917 Kirby, the Lacy House at 1010 Reid, the Durio House at 832 Iris, and the Mulvey House (QuinnOaks) at 736 Pujo Street.

In addition, the Walker Bonsai Garden at 916 Kirby and the Christian Science Reading Rooms at 701 Kirby will open their doors for Tour patrons.

The 2016 Tour is compact and walkable with all properties within one block of Central School, the Tour headquarters and site of the Mardi Gras Tearoom. The Tearoom will operate during the hours of the Tour and offer refreshments and a peek at the Mardi Gras Museum’s revived collection of artifacts and costumes. Proceeds from the Tearoom will benefit the Museum. 

Tickets for the Tour are $10 and will be available soon at Gordon’s Drugs, at the Arts and Humanities Council Office at Central School and at the Brimstone Museum in Sulphur. These vendors request that purchases of Tour tickets be cash or check only. Online Tickets for the Tour will be available here on our website on February 20th.
